BMW Malaysia Confident Of Good Sales In 2009

BMW Malaysia Sdn Bhd is cautiously optimistic over the prospects of the premium car market in the country amid the challenging economic situation at the moment.

Sales in luxury cars in Malaysia, which is about 9,000 annually, has remained resilient although other segments have dropped significantly, managing director Geoffrey Briscoe told a press conference after the media launch of two new models of the BMW 7 Series here.

He said BMW sold 3,715 cars last year, an increase of 12 percent compared with the previous year, and would be happy to maintain the volume this year.

"A lot of people still have the money. The buyers are there," he said.

BMW launched the BMW 740Li and 750Li today.

BMW Z4 with 551HP M5 V10 Engine

Germans love power and speed. While most of us would have been more than content with a stock BMW Z4 M, the owner of this Z4 that's for sale on a German online vehicle marketplace found that an inline-six with 343 HP couldn't satisfy his lust for speed. So what more reasonable than to throw in a BMW M5 / M6 sourced 5.0-liter V10 engine. But even the M5 V10's 507 HP weren't enough for our German protagonist who decided to replace the Z4's inline-six with an even more powerful, Hartge-prepped version of the V10 delivering a hefty 551 HP. The engine is mated to a six-speed manual gearbox.

Custom Made BMW 850i Convertible up for Sale

Even though it may have crossed the minds of BMW officials at some point, the Bavarian automaker never actually built a convertible version of the 8-Series Coupe. But when there's a will (aka; plenty of cash), there's a way. Erik Williams, a former American football offensive tackle in NFL who played most of his career with the Dallas Cowboys, is (or rather was) the original owner of this custom made 1991 BMW 850i Convertible that is up for sale now by a Texas dealer located in New Braunfels
